Diode Laser
Hair Removal
Medical-grade diode laser technology that precisely targets and permanently disables hair follicles — delivering smooth, hair-free skin across the face, body, and intimate areas. Safe for a wide range of skin tones, virtually painless compared to waxing, and clinically proven to achieve up to 90% permanent hair reduction over a series of sessions.
Treatment Overview
What is Diode Laser Hair Removal?
Diode laser hair removal is the gold standard in permanent hair reduction — a clinically proven technology that uses a concentrated beam of light at a specific wavelength to selectively target the melanin (pigment) within each hair follicle. The laser energy is absorbed by the follicle, generating heat that permanently damages the cells responsible for hair regrowth — all without harming the surrounding skin tissue.
The diode laser wavelength (typically 808–810 nm) offers an optimal penetration depth that reaches the hair bulb and papilla — the structures that drive hair growth — while its built-in cooling system simultaneously protects the skin surface and minimizes discomfort. This combination makes it one of the safest, most effective, and most comfortable laser hair removal systems available.
At Peach & Fox, every laser hair removal session is performed one-on-one in our private Midtown East studio. Kat conducts a thorough consultation to assess your skin tone, hair color, and treatment area, then builds a customized protocol calibrated to deliver the safest and most effective results for your unique profile.

How Diode Laser Hair Removal Works
Hair removal lasers operate on a principle called selective photothermolysis — the precise matching of a specific light wavelength and pulse duration to a specific target (chromophore) within the tissue. For hair removal, the target is melanin — the pigment that gives hair its color. The diode laser's 808 nm wavelength is strongly absorbed by melanin while being minimally absorbed by surrounding water and hemoglobin in the skin.
When the laser pulse is delivered, the melanin in the hair shaft and follicle absorbs the energy and converts it to heat. This heat conducts down the hair shaft into the follicle's bulge and bulb — the germinative zones responsible for producing new hair. If the temperature in these zones reaches a critical threshold, the follicular stem cells are permanently disabled, ending the hair growth cycle for that follicle.
Because hair grows in cycles — anagen (active growth), catagen (transition), and telogen (resting) — the laser is only effective during the anagen phase, when the hair is actively connected to the follicle. This is why a series of 6–8 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is required to catch all follicles during their active growth phase.
What to Expect
Results Timeline
After Session 1–2
You'll notice a visible reduction in hair density and thickness. Treated hairs will begin to shed over 7–14 days following each session. The skin in the treated area will feel noticeably smoother and the regrowth will be finer.
After Session 3–4
A significant reduction — typically 40–60% — in total hair count. The remaining hairs will be finer, lighter, and slower-growing. Many clients notice they no longer need to shave or wax between sessions.
After Session 5–6
Most clients achieve 70–85% permanent hair reduction. The treated area is largely hair-free, with only occasional fine hairs present. Many clients are completely satisfied at this stage and choose to stop here.
After Full Series (6–8 Sessions)
Up to 90% permanent hair reduction. The skin is smooth, clear, and permanently hair-free in the treated areas. Annual touch-up sessions may be recommended to address any new vellus hairs that develop due to hormonal changes.
Maintenance & Touch-Ups
Following a complete series, results are largely permanent. Hormonal fluctuations (pregnancy, menopause, PCOS) can stimulate new follicles — occasional once- or twice-yearly touch-up sessions maintain your results long-term.

Post-Treatment
Aftercare & Post-Session Guidelines
Laser hair removal requires minimal aftercare — but following these guidelines carefully between sessions ensures the safest, most effective results and protects your skin from unwanted side effects.
- First 24–48 hours: Avoid hot showers, baths, saunas, steam rooms, and gym workouts — elevated heat can increase irritation in treated skin
- Sun protection is non-negotiable: Apply SPF 30+ to all treated areas exposed to sunlight. Laser-treated skin is more photosensitive and prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation if sun exposure occurs
- No waxing, threading, or plucking between sessions — these remove the hair root, which is required for the laser to work. Shaving is the only acceptable hair removal method between appointments
- Gentle skincare only: Avoid retinoids, glycolic acid, and strong exfoliants on treated areas for 48–72 hours following each session
- Expect shedding: Treated hairs will shed over 7–14 days post-session. This is a normal part of the process — resist the urge to pull or exfoliate them out; they will fall out naturally
- Stay consistent: Results are cumulative — spacing sessions 4–6 weeks apart (and keeping your appointments on schedule) is the most important factor in achieving maximum hair reduction
If you experience unusual redness, blistering, or prolonged discomfort following a session, contact the studio immediately. Kat is available to address any post-treatment questions and will monitor your skin's response throughout the series to adjust the protocol as needed.
